What We Do
The Renaissance Project is a small not-for-profit based in Land O' Lakes, Florida that gives bright, deserving young people from around the world a chance at their American Dream. The Renaissance Project provides these students and their families with amazing opportunities.  We house, feed, and clothe our students, while our partner school Academy at the Lakes, helps prepare them for college and beyond.  Together, along with our network of friends and supporters, we help steward each child as they grow to become adults, ambassadors, and the future leaders of our world.

Through our long term commitment and caring support network we are able to create profound and lasting change in the lives of our students and their families.  In time, as our students go into the world,  we hope our efforts will result in change for the larger world as our students pay forward the generosity shared with them.

A Word from Mom

"…then came the magic moment, a beautiful, shimmering plane soared into the sky taking our treasure to an unknown, distant land. It was not easy like that, to send away my dear and infinitely loved child. Even a mother, of course, is not devoid of selfishness. But, over time I could see Max mature. He was intelligent, enthusiastic, and pursued worthy ideas and interest. My heart bloomed with beautiful flowers and unseen birds where everything sings and rejoices. I feel the love and care imbued in my sons, by people unknown to me, but that have become near and dear ones. They are the streams of love, kindness, and hope."

-Janetta Stepanets describing sending Max to America his first year and how she feels now.

Gleb's a Bucknell Bison!

Six years ago a cherub faced, loquacious 11 year old boy left his home in Russia to pursue his dream of a better life for himself and his family. Armed only with an undeniable confidence and basic English Gleb came off the plane with the singular goal of taking advantage of what he knew was the chance of a lifetime.

For six years Gleb dedicated himself to his goal. He spent countless hours studying and staying after school for extra help, never afraid to ask others for insights and assistance. His mind was thirsty, and his drive was unrelenting.
Gleb consistently earned the highest grades in school and accolades from his teachers, both things which he valued dearly.
Gleb's journey was not all roses and sunshine, but he learned from his mistakes and kept moving. He learned to love with out judging, to laugh with warmth, and to understand that sometimes people compliment one another instead of compete. Gleb invested a lot of blood, sweat and tears and believed, in his heart of hearts, that in America he could make his dreams come true.

It is with great excitement that we can say, they did.

Gleb has been accepted into Bucknell University with a scholarship to cover his 4 years of schooling.

Gleb, know that all of us: your parents, teachers, friends, and surrogate family are all forever proud of you. You did exactly as you dreamed of doing and in the course of this journey you made us all better people. You have reminded us that the American Dream is not only real, but alive and well.
